Welcome to the second news briefing from Blithfield Parish Council in 2025
Admaston telephone box: The Admaston telephone box has now returned to it’s usual site, alongside the Admaston lay-by. It has been something of a team effort, firstly the potential theft was averted by ‘eagle eyed’ and quick thinking Admaston residents, it was rescued and transported to safe storage in Newton. Plans were then made to re-instate it securely, hopefully to prevent any further attempts to steal or damage it. It was once again transported back to Admaston and finally, the ‘operation’ was completed with the telephone box standing proudly and securely in it’s rightful position. Much of the work has been carried out voluntarily and the parish council is very grateful to all concerned.
Admaston Village Gateways: Our new County Councillor Gary Hales has indicated that he has committed to use some of his funding to lower the Admaston Village signs and add ‘please drive carefully’ to them.
Pressure continues to be applied where ever possible to get a speed restriction through the hamlet too.
Moreton Brook Solar Farm planning application number P/2024/00696: Planning permission has now been formally granted, all be it with a lengthy list of conditions. Aura Power are currently aiming for a grid connection date of September 2027, which means they would look to start construction in Spring 2027. PCSO 16930 Lucy Hadfield is the Rural and Wildlife coordinator, this is a position she has held for some time and is very familiar with the area.

Please do continue to report any vehicle related anti-social behaviour along with anything else suspicious. There is an ongoing issue in the parish and surrounding area with incidence of rural crime, such as sheep theft, so please be vigilant.
Superfast Fibre Broadband: This project is still progressing.
Defibrillators: To register your interest in a training session during Winter 2025/Spring 2026, please email the parish clerk. Remember the defibrillators can be found in the phone box at Newton and outside the village hall in Admaston.
New Gov.uk Domain: In order to keep up to date with the statutory requirements for parish councils, we now have a gov.uk domain. This means we have a new email and website addresses, as shown below. For the time being if you use our old contact details, you will automatically be diverted to the new domain.

Phyllis Massey After around 27 years, the Parish Council were very sorry to receive Phyllis Massey’s letter of resignation in June. Over the many years that Phyllis has been a councillor, she has given relentless and great service to the community and we are sure you will join us in thanking her very much. We have presented her with a bouquet as a token of our gratitude.
After following the correct procedure for co-opting a new member to the council, it is very much hoped that the vacancy will be filled shortly.
